I miss art shows.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not excited about crowds of people in close proximity anytime soon, but I really miss the open and inviting scene created and hosted by Sonoma Coast Surf & Skate. You always meet someone new to talk about anything. Every art show was something truly unique and never disappointed. Come as you are - leave when you want. Those were great times.
Since we have all been fighting the good fight and staying away from gatherings, I thought I could maybe make a somewhat surrogate for the art shows of yore. And it so happens that I recorded one such art show (my own).
The show itself was part exhibit of completed audio works, and part acquisition of participant audio. Art show attendees were invited into a sound booth and asked to tell stories about Petaluma for some future undefined project. Well, I guess, here is that project.
Here’s to hoping to see people at a local art show in the future, but until then, enjoy with headphones.
Technical note - the below audio has been truncated to include mostly the stories told by the art show attendees. I don’t think an additional two hours of background chatter is desirable, but I am happy to send that to anyone who wants it.
